Guth just think about the way the game works for a minute or two. Forget the numbers, stats figures and what a friend of a friend can do in a missile boat and think.
The only over-powered Caldari ship is the Raven. This is based on what I see with my own two eyes every day when I play Eve. It's not based on some random figures, stas or what a friend told me.
Right, you're a Gallente pilot. Your race has more blatantly over-powered ships than any other right now and thats final.
Dominix > Everything BS size or smaller.
Ishtar > Everything tech 2 cruiser sized or smaller (excepting perhaps the zealot)
Vexor > Everything tech 1 cruiser sized or smaller.
Ishkur > Everything frig sized or smaller.
This isn't based on numbers, figures, stats or what my neighbours Eve playing dog told me. It's based on months and months of pvp experience.
Pve? meh.

Raven isnt that overpowered.
I guess not but its definitely above the Caldari norm which is 'mostly pretty pathetic unless they're fleet support'. Of course 90% of any combat situation is the setup but you can afford to be more careless with the other races ships if you're off out on your own to pvp.
To solo pvp in a Caldari ship you have to be more exact with the fitting and know what you're gonna kill. If the other race ships get into their optimal before you can do enough damage you're as good as dead, the Raven is perhaps the most glaring exception to this.
This is all my opinion of course.

Originally by: Guth This would make missiles more powerful than turrets, but not guaranteed to hit. At the same time I'd want turrets to be almost guaranteed to hit but do a steady amount of damage alot lower than missiles.
Of course this won't happen, as it would be redisign of the entire combat system. But that is what I would like.. Not nerfed missiles.
I could be wrong but your ideal is almost a reverse of the current situation...?
Missiles provide a steady stream of damage at the moment. Turrets provide alot of damage depending on a number of variables.
You need to take your own advice and train for some missile ships before you question the current system any further.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side dude, trust me.

TARGET PAINTER 4TW SO YES MISSILE USERS DO HAVE EXTRA MODS TO HELP
Yes but you have to consider that setting up a missile ship with these extra modules is a gimp which shield tankers/jammers can't really afford.
Ideally you're going to have one of those target painting recon ships aiding the missile users.
I'm sure that was CCP's vision. Unfortunately Eve isn't an ideal world scenario and people don't want to fly those ships.

Well Guth we're just going to have to agree to disagree...
The game has reached a better state of balance than it has ever had. The gap between which race is superior is narrowing with every patch.
The best thing is ccp manage to narrow this gap without making every race the same. This is golden as far as I'm concerned, each race should be totally unique, each race should have ships and modules that do certain things better.
Caldari have good fleet ships that really don't 1v1 well (with notable exceptions), Gallente is still the current win race and has been for a long time now simpily because they can nos, jam and do massive damage all at once.
A hefty re-hash of the weapons systems will only add further disarray to a game that already has significant problems....
Namely nos and jamming, everything else takes the back seat in my opinion.
